Captures of L'Étoile du Nord, from the perspective of a Minnesotan native.
The diverse landscapes of Minnesota provide boundless motives for all forms of photographer. From the rocky shores of the Northern Superior shore, to the sprawling city scene of the Twin Cities, the subtle beauty of the land of 10,000 lakes can be captured in endless ways.
An beautiful country with endless opportunity and character.
From brooding fog filled scenes to gorgeous sun soaked beaches, Norway nurtures a wide spectrum of emotion. These images cover the span of nine months spent living in Kleppe, a small village twenty or so minutes south of Stavanger.
Ten days of tenting in the Serengeti.
One of the most unforgettable trips. There is nothing quite like getting to witness a herd of Wildebeest crossing a river, a lion eating its catch of the day, or a cheetah sprinting across an open field to nearby cover. Getting to witness all of that, only to go back to a tent at the end of the night and listen to the noises of the same animals moving in the night with only one thick canvas of protection. Tanzania welcomes adventure with open arms, and the beauty of the country makes it near impossible to make a bad image.
Searching for tigers in Ranthambore, India.
India was a challenging trip. From the constant harsh overhead light, to the dust cementing itself onto any surface that it can find; it took a lot of patience to take a good photo. It was a truly unique moment when a tiger was spotted, and the shutter of the camera clicked at just the right time.
It is difficult to find tigers, even in their natural habitat, but when you do find one, the whole world gets quiet and still, full attention is paid to the royal cat for the brief time that it is there. It is truly a special sight.
Touring Peru: from Lima to Puno.
Peru was my first experience traveling outside of the United States. It was a whirlwind of an experience. We were constantly on the move, so the opportunities to take consciously framed photos were few and far between. It was a huge learning experience for me in how to compose a photo quickly, and shoot while on the move.
The wild west. The long stretch of the great rocky mountains down to the flatlands of sparse deserts and plains.
These parts of the country are known for cowboys, rodeos, and the beautiful nature that is sacred there. The mountains offer a solitude not found elsewhere where you can meet yourself in a new light.
The pacific northwest is an incredible world filled with the strangest array of plant life, wildlife, and diverse landscape in the United States. In the short amount of time that I had to explore Oregon, I knew immediately that I would be returning. This is an ongoing gallery, that will be added to in the future.
North Dakota is typically seen as one of the more boring states in the US. However, hidden at its border with Montana the state contains a stunning landscape that is the Maah Daah Hey mountain biking trail, and Theodore Roosevelt National Park. These are beautiful, desolate looking parks that provide unimaginable views, experiences, and emotions. I was only fortunate enough to visit for one full day due to some car issues, however I will be returning to this beautiful park. I will get my photo of a cowboy.
One of the greatest hidden secrets in the United States is the beauty of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Many from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan are familiar with this area, as it is an ideal location for a vacation in the woods. With close access to Lake Superior and stunning protected forests, there is no end to the peaceful solitude the nature there offers.
